I just won a great vintage ring on Ebay I would like to know what the hallmarks mean. Help!?
one inside is indented with a symbol that looks like a quarter moon points facing toward the top of the ring. a bit of space followed with the ingraved letters " P. STERL" and there a larger letter " F" hanging to the side and below alignment with the " L" . The other side is engraved " TM P.14K" . then is followed after a bit of space, just like on the other side, with the same deeper indentation that looks like a quarter moon with it's points also facing toward the top of the ring.. The symbols that look like a quarter moon do not appear to have anything to do with the design on the outside of the ring as they do not pierce the silver which I think thee metal is like other designs that DO pierce the silver with a bit of filigree..I may as well add that, on both shanks coming up to the gallery there is a design element to the filigree that looks like two " C" back to back and this part of the design is in gold appears real, not worn a bit . Also on the gallery facing North and South there is also a design of two " Cs back to back. Only in the N S positions, which are also in gold, they really look like " C" s. The setting is then there are about 22 or so very nice small garnets surrounding a four prong set and very pretty emerald cut Citrine that measures about 20X14mm. The ring is fabulous and I love it like crazy. What a find for $10.99 A real treasure Now, bless your heart if you can follow what I just tried to explain to you because I found it quite challenging to describe. I am just very curious what the hallmark " quarter moons" represent, if anything and just what the other stamps mean.Whoever can and is willing to enlighten me re this curiosity, I will be forever in your debt. What type of Vintage Ring do I Have?
Hello, I am trying to find out more about my ring. I have a gold banded white diamond ring. Its a diamond center, surrounded by about seven nine diamonds, the center one being upraised. At first I thought it may be a daisy ring but now I am uncertain. I cant find out more as I have lost it but I am wondering if someone could possibly tell me rings that fall under that category so that I could by another one. It is a vintage ring , as it belonged to my mothers grandmother. My mother being in her mid fifties. Most likely from victorian or pre depression times. Thanks A lotKrisAlso I have forgotten to mention that it is a yellow gold band, as I have found look alikes with white gold bands.
